Morton-Brittain Historic Home in Nolensville Tennessee
Pen and Ink drawing of the Morton-Brittain Historic Home in Nolensville Tennessee.
Quote from Channel 4 News in Nashville… “The Morton-Brittain House has been at its spot in Nolensville since a time it was surrounded only by farmland. Stagecoaches carried people by. It’s a survivor from a very different time. “It was built in 1870,” said Carroll Moore, president of the Nolensville Historical Society. “This house represents the former Nolensville.”

Abandoned Farm Home (oil 6/8) *SOLD*

Yesterday on the way home from work I found a shady spot and set up my easel in Nolensville TN and painted this old abandoned house. I did a watercolor of it last year while sitting in my car. Every time I drive by I expect it to be razed.

A farm in the Viola Tennessee area. That mountain range is the start of the Cumberland Plateau. Fall Creek Falls State Park is pretty close by as is McMinnville and Beersheeba Springs. Word up to Middle Tennessee painters, This area is worth the short drive for some great subject matter.

Hume Fogg Niche (oil 11/14) SOLD

This is a little decorative detail on the side of Hume Fogg High in Nashville. The school was built in 1912 with another wing added in 1916. An illustrator named McCullough Partee (1900-1990) graduated there in 1918. I was able to meet him in "88 and he and his wife invited me and a friend over a few times to their home. He was happy that we loved the old illustrators and showed us his art, talked about the old days, old illustrators he met and gave us some sound advice. Also we both were volleyball players. He in the 20's and me in the 80 & 90's. I have the Hume Fogg 1918 yearbook. He is in it and did the drawings for it. He really liked Leyendecker when he was in school. Everytime I pass Hume Fogg I think of old Mac.

Brick Buildings in Nashville (oil 8/10 panel SOLD

Started the sketch outside (en plein air I think they say) and I finished it from memory the next day. It's behind the Lifeway building off 9th I think. I can't remember those road numbers. One of these buildings was an old piano store. I think they are abandoned or hobos stay in them. I did see a rat.
