Watercolor sketch influenced by Cate Parr. Just "discovered" her work yesterday. One of the best. Magenta, scarlet lake and cobalt blue mixed up in the hair. The paper is bright white but there is a shadow on the scan. That cobalt blue with the hair color made a nice violet for the shadow.

Warner Park in Nashville Tennessee contains a gnarled, twisted tree, full of crooked red-brown branches that I just had to paint! It is surrounded by bright yellow wildflowers, and beyond it lies a sun-baked field of light green grass leading to an even more tangled, distant forest. Oil, 8x10 on canvas panel.
