This is the smokehouse by at the Historic Carnton Mansion in Franklin Tennessee. I painted this back in '95. I believe they restored a lot of structures on the Carnton site after I painted this. The Battle of Franklin was fought in this area during the Civil War and there is a Confederate Cemetery on the site. Visit www.carnton.org for the whole story.

This is just south of Nashville off I-24 at the Old Hickory Blvd and Battle Road fork. I passed this many times and finally did a watercolor of it. I assume it was a market or an old gas station. Stupid dogs from down the street followed my car and were hassling me so I did not go inside for a looksee. I am glad I was not on my bike. I like cats.

This old closed shop is in Liberty Tennessee on a June day. I wonder what is was back in the day? Lot's of stuff to paint in these small towns. Each old building or home has stories and secrets.
