This is the Bridge of Lions in St Augustine FL. They are restoring this bridge and have a temporary bridge next to it to use. My folks keep me updated on the progress. The lions are in storage. Safe and sound I hear. It's a beautiful bridge but a bottleneck for traffic especially when the drawbridge is up. If interesed in buying email me the title.

St. Augustine View (Oil 6/8) $60 *Sold*

It was cold this week so I pulled out one of my watercolor sketches I did in St Augustine FL last May. I was standing by the Castillo de Marcos fort looking out toward the bridge at low tide as you can see. St. Augustine is my favorite place in FL. Plenty of sites to see plus my folks live there. Also there are some really good local artists exhibiting in the galleries. If you want to buy it email me the title.

James Robertson Building (Ink & Pencil 6/8) $40.00

A pen drawing of the front of the James Robertson Building from the lot behind Hume Fogg HS, Nashville. Some pencil shading added. This area is a panhandler area. It is down the street from our wonderful Public Library. There is a nice park in front but the taxpayers cannot enjoy it though without being pestered by the panhandlers who congregate there.
Nashville's downtown Library is one of the finest buildings downtown and a first rate library. Our Frist Art Museum and new Schermerhorn Symphony Hall are great new additions.

Barn and Graveyard (watercolor 6/4) *SOLD*

I painted this from my pencil sketch from below and memory. One grave said 1887 the others were too worn to read. Email me the title if interested in buying.

Ruffians at Smith's Market

I think the guy in the middle wanted to kick my ass as I was sketching in my car. I finished it later...

Pasture (Strathmore "baby" pad 4/6)

I keep one of these baby Strathmore pads close at hand. I like the Strathmore 400 series paper. Nice off white color. This was drawn last fall from my car.

Sketching cows and barns (Strathmore 6/8 pad)

Out sketching cows and barns plus doodles. I may watercolor the little barn with the graveyard.

J. C. Leyendecker

For you J.C. Leyendecker fans. I googled and found this scan of Leyendeker as a young man. I love this guy's work and have learned a lot from studying it. You cannot beat the old illustrators.

Dusk (acrylic 6/8) $60

I drove to the store the other evening at dusk with the moon out and the business lights just coming on. The cows were doing their thing. I locked the scene in my memory and painted it before I went to bed. I always like the light at this time of day. If interested in buying email me.

The cows were relaxing in the water so I watercolored them right outside of Nolensville TN.

Church in Nashville (oil 6/8) $75 *SOLD*

I started this on our wet Christmas afternoon in downtown Nashville. (Go Predators!) In no time flat panhandlers arrived like pigeons. I gave up, took a digishot and finished it at home. This is the First Baptist Church across the street from Hume Fogg and the Customs building. Nashville is chock full of interesting buildings. Other than the panhandlers, downtown is great.

Two Drawings

Here are a couple of portrait drawings I did in Shane Neal's class 6 or 7 years ago. Buddy and Sarah

Gangster

I was watching gangsters on TV. I watercolored one. This good fella will make you an offer you can't refuse. Big Tony sends his regards.

Restaurant Sketch

I drew this while waiting for our food at Rossi's in Smyrna. These ladies are really chowing down. Rossi's serves some good italian food. Pay them a visit. I have been visiting a lot of folks drawing blogs as well. I always enjoy seeing coffee shop and restaurant sketches with people doing what they do in those joints.

Thomas Kinkade vs Godzilla $10,000,495.99 *SOLD*

This Kinkade piece needed something. So I added Godzilla and a giant moth. I hear he uses maple syrup for his painting medium. High fructose corn syrup added for extra sweetness. ( I liked his plein air book.) Price $10,000,495.99 + Free Shipping

SprawlMart Impression

I did a couple oil paintings this weekend. A cup still life and a city scene. They are not dry enough to plop on the scanner though. I went to SprawlMart today. It was crowded. I locked some impressions of the crowd in my brain and sketched them when I got home. I forget where I put my keys at times, but am pretty good remembering images. Once I went to jam and forgot my keyboard! That is what happens when you get old. ;-)
