Viola Workshop (9x12 acrylic)

This workshop or garage is in Viola Tennessee. May have been an old gas station? Plenty of junk around and an old Dr. Pepper drink machine. I don't think there was any Dr. Pepper left. Pretty chilly day but nice and clear.

I like that. The light is fantastic.

Those blue shadows make this piece sing! It makes me feel like I'm on an old highway in Tennessee, just looking for mysteries to solve like this one.

Chris, a great painting, love the luminosity of the shaded wall.

Love that pink/purple/blue wall in shadow. Against that sky--very nice.

You've been capturing those bright, crystal blue skies perfectly. Makes me want to go for a Sunday drive down old Highway 41.

nice value structure, and I like the way you have pushed the blue colour.

Wow 7 comments. I have fun with these shadowed pieces. Thanks gang.
Diana, I see these old buildings with junk and wonder who owns them what's the deal with all the junk. Or an old abandoned house and ponder the history of it.

Great use of lighting, it gives the whole painting a natural look.

Hey - great meeting you today!

I have to say - now that I've seen this painting in person, it looks much better than it does here.

Even though it looks good digitally... wow, it SINGS in person.

Hey Chief! Great meeting you as well. Maybe we can sip some Beam or Dickel sometime. Thanks for the joe.

The blue does it for me. The red accent is a tastey little touch of zazz. The mood is poetic and reaches behind language.

Thanks Bill. I always look forward to your comments.

The old garage is actually Dan McInnis' shop. He works on his dump trucks here. The junk on the outside is from him cleaning out the inside. I live in the town of Viola. You could paint in this town everyday and never see it all.
