Auburntown (8/10 oil)


I painted this from my watercolor sketch down the page. 100 degrees outside and cool in my studio. I tried using just cadmium scarlett, cadmium lemon and french ultramarine. I used a little alizarin crimson on the red roof.

The "painterly" quality of the leaves actually adds to their realism! Your eyes follow the road and take you around the corner to the front door!

Yes indeed. Head in that front door and into the AC. Maybe some lemonade in the fridge.

I really like the red roof, both in sunlight and shade. Good use of the reds.
